Product Description

Clear Vision, Clear Results

KEVICHEM’S Clarifying agents were introduced in the year – 2011 to reduce haze through polynucleation of the polymer by enhancing clarity of the polypropylene. It also reduces manufacturing cost due increased production of polypropylene, enhances aesthetics and improves physical properties.

KEVICHEM’S 2nd Generation CLARIZOL is a new High Performance Sorbitol based clarifying agent for Polyolefin which is aimed to buckle down the limitations of former generation clarifying agents with respect it:

  • Transparency
  • Organoleptics
  • Process ability
  • Nucleation capability

Our Clarizol is produced in a highly sophisticated process which reduces byproducts to almost zero, thus making it a unique product for clarifying polypropylene. The polynucleation results in intensified stiffness of the moulded part & shorter cycle time of the Moulding process.

Thanks to revolution CLARIZOL clarifying agents, a new archetype developed: Clear Polypropylene, since the practical advantages of polypropylene were being overshadowed y its haziness, making it impractical for many uses.

CLARIZOL clarifying agents, along with continues resin improvements & availability, have given product planners remarkable flexibility in making design, packing & material selections. Polypropylene clarified with CLARIZOL has become much better & the intellectual, sophisticated choice for an ever growing number of applications.
With KEVICHEM’s latest technical breakthrough, CLARIZOL makes clarified polypropylene even more appealing: Clearer, easier to use, & surprisingly cost efficient.

Applications

Polypropylene is well-known for its better moisture barrier, higher heat distortion, superior chemical resistance Se. also for lower cost what compared to PET (polyethylene terephthalate) & PVC (polyvinylchloride).
Hence product planners & designers are always keen to discover new applications for PP clarified with KEVICHEM’S CLARIZOL

Carizol can enhance physical properties as well as speed up processing and also lower operating costs. This kind of benefits arises at every step from the package designer manufacturer to the ultimate consumer.
Useful in all processes- Injection molding, Blow molding or extrusion; these resins provide the highest Clarity, Gloss & Surface smoothness ever possible with polypropylene; with suitable for taste & odour sensitive applications such as Food packaging.

Polypropylene clarified with KEVICHEM’S CLARIZOL offers impact strength, moisture barrier & living hinge qualities that can’t be achieved with PS (polystyrene). Polypropylene densities are lower than other plastics which mean less material is required to manufacture parts.

Normally PP crystallizes slowly into relatively large crystals known as `spherulites’, are larger in size, which refracts light (wavelength larger than wavelength of visible light). This reduces clarity & increases haze.

When PP is clarified with CLARIZOL2G the rate of crystal initiation is increased by many orders of magnitude throughout the polymer. Because many more crystals are growing in the same amount of space they are all much smaller in size. The result is crystals smaller than the wavelength of visible light that allow light to pass through, imparting intensified clarity.

Clarity with KEVICHEM’s CLARIZOL 2G :

CLARIZOLG gives enhanced clarity over other commercially available clarifiers like other clarifying agent. The following graph illustrates the typical % haze improvements in injection molded plaques of homopolymer and random copolymer PP’s containing CLARIZOL30.

KEVICHEM’S Clarifying agent can be melt melding using the standard methods. KEVICHEM’s 2nd Generation CLARIZOL melts at higher temperature than former clarifying agents & it is aimed for rapid solubilization during melt- melding. Complete solubilization is necessary to achieve the highest clarity & quality.

Piece of advice for Blending with KEVICHEM’s 2nd Generation CLARIZOL

1.   Powder Masterbatch Preparation :-

  • The single & most important factor in blending high quality resins is thorough dispersion of CLARIZOL ®.

  • The additive must blended with PP fluff or flake & other co- additives should be blend by using a mechanically agitated blender, until a homogeneous dispersion is obtained. (* Generally higher intensity mixing is preferable).

2.   Melt Blending :-

  • Powder masterbatch containing KEVICHEM’s 2nd Generation CLARIZOL should be calibrated into the Blending Extruder along with the PP base resins at the appropriate rates.

  • Typical melt blending temperature can be used, since KEVICHEM’s 2nd Generation CLARIZOL dissolves rapidly in the PP melt.

  • To maximize homogeneity & to remove possible traces of non-dispersed clarifier, filtration of the melt through a 325mm filter is recommended.

3.   Factors affecting KEVICHEM’s 2nd Generation CLARIZOL Dispersion:-

Factors

Corrective Action

Agglomerates in Powder Masterbatch

Use high shear mixing
Decrease fluff temperature to avoid melting waxy co - additives ( generally < 120° F or 50°C )

Lower Dispersion rate in PP Homopolymer

Eliminate agglomerates in powder masterbatch
Use a polar dispersant
Increase the shear stress in the blending extruder

Poor Melt Filtration

Change filter screen more often to avoid holes & excessive bypass
Use a finer filter screen (400mesh) [*if possible)
